However, it’s not possible for us to focus on the appropriate threading process of every machine. So, in this article, we will be showing you the right ways of threading an industrial sewing machine.
How to thread an industrial sewing machine?
See, threading is a long process with a number of steps. Therefore, we have divided our entire write up into several parts and steps. We guarantee that you will but end up learning the appropriate threading process of an industrial sewing machine satisfactorily.
Part 1: Fill the bobbin
Have you chosen the thread with which you will sew? Okay, then take the thread and pass it through a number of different paths.
First of all, set the thread onto the spool-pin that is obviously above of the machine. Take the end of the thread with any of your hands and pass it by the top thread guide.
Then, pass it by the thread guide that is at the back side of the machine. Keep passing it through the tension disc and end the passing game after reaching the bobbin. What to do? Pass it through the bobbin.
After inserting the thread into the bobbin, it’s time to tie a string into the bobbin. Insert the string into the bobbin winder. Engage the winder to the machine. This will wind the string around the bobbin when you press the foot pedal.
Part 2: Unloose the foot and needle
Although, the previous part says you to press the foot pedal for winding yet you mustn’t press it unwisely. Before you press it, there is something that you must do for machine’s safety.
Firstly, you are to make sure that you have untied the machine needle. Otherwise, this simple mistake may cause you great injury. How? Well, while winding is going on, the needle goes up and down very fast. In that situation, if any of your fingers mistakenly goes under the needle then you can imagine what might happen.
Again, along with needle you must make sure that the presser foot is removed. Because both the machine parts will break into pieces if any tough thing accidentally placed on their way.
As soon as you have checked these two things, now it’s time to switch on the machine. Press the foot pedal and don’t release it until the bobbin is completely full.
Part 3: Load the bobbin
Is the bobbin wound completely? Okay, then it’s time for loading the bobbin into the bobbin holder. But, wait! Don’t dare load it in the ways that you adopt with domestic machines. Keep in mind that there is always a slight difference in the bobbin loading of the two machine types.
Wanna learn the difference? Well, here goes it: in case of industrial machine, the thread end will point toward you. On the contrary, in the case of domestic sewing machine, the point will be away from you.
Again, when you load the bobbin properly and drag the string, it must turn anti-clockwise. And, in the case of domestic machines, it will turn clockwise.
So, while loading the bobbin, you must be able to differentiate the two ways and outputs. Otherwise, making blunder will be very natural.
Part 4: Thread the machine
Start threading the machine taking the thread end via a number of string tensioners and thread guides. No, don’t fear about serial or be confused about serial maintenance because, you will get these labelled orderly. So, you will understand automatically which path will precede which one.
If unfortunately, the paths are not marked, scan the manual well. There you will obviously get a clear overview of the paths order.
Here, you may want to ask a question what is the necessity of passing the thread via these paths. Actually, the purpose is to slow-down the movement of the thread when you maintain tension on it. Otherwise, the thread would entangled even prior to reaching the needle.
Part 5: Thread the needle
Is the machine threading done? Well, then, place the needle and foot to their respective place like before and turn to thread the needle.
For this you are to pass the thread through the needle eye. Remember that passing must be completed from left to right, not from right to left. You must be careful of this only if the machine lacks an automatic needle threader.
If the machine features the mechanism then congratulations, you’re saved from a strenuous task. However, if your machine includes the feature, you just need to touch a specific lever for threading the needle automatically.
Part 6: Pull up the bobbin thread
When the needle is threaded and the bobbin is in place, successively lower and lift the take-up lever with hand-wheel. As soon as the take up lever at its topmost position, you will find the bobbin string looped round the needle string.
Finally, simply pull up the bobbin string and separate. Here goes your industrial sewing machine threaded in the right way.
